Riverhawks give up late goals, fall 3-0

WILDER, Ky. Even with a decimated lineup, the Cincinnati Riverhawks had their chances against the United Soccer League's A-League select team, U.S. Pro 40, but the Riverhawks fell 3-0 before a crowd of 886 at Town and Country Soccer Complex Friday night.
The Riverhawks gave up two goals late in the second half.
It's always difficult to lose this way, but after we had four chances, it became a question of whether we want to lose, 1-0, or 3- or 4- or 5-0, Riverhawks coach Nick Ranieri said. In the last 10 minutes, we decided to put an extra player up front, and it cost us.
A Riverhawks lineup already short due to injuries and discipline was further depleted late in the first half when starting goalkeeper Chris Wanamaker (Oak Hills High School, Wilmington College) was hit with a red card for committing a handball violation outside of the goal box. The red card meant an automatic ejection for Wanamaker, who joined injured starters J.T. Roberts (Princeton, Northern Kentucky University) and Tommy Keenen on the sidelines.
U.S. Pro (11-4), which is stocked with many of Major League Soccer's best prospects and leads the A-League's Central Division, took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Seth George 36 minutes into the first half.
George, a former UCLA standout, added a second goal with seven minutes left, and Marvin Quijano scored U.S. Pro's third goal less than two minutes later.
Cincinnati (4-7) was tied for last in the division going into the game.
U.S. Pro 3, Cincinnati 0
Shutout: Vallow (4 saves). Goals: U George 2, Quijano. Records: U 11-4, C 4-7.
