N.KY. HIGH SCHOOL REPORT
Lloyd beats Highlands in baseball
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Lloyd baseball team continued its roll by beating Highlands 12-2 on Thursday.
After a shaky start, the Juggernauts have won 12 of their last 13 games to improve to 21-11.
We start a lot of young players, and early on it was a matter of building their confidence, assistant coach Buddy Schwierjohann said.
Powered by senior Davey Couch's two-out, three-run homer, Lloyd struck for four runs in the second inning. Couch leads the team with 10 home runs and 45 RBI.
Scott 6, Holmes 3, at Holmes Catcher-turned-pitcher Nick Trammel went the distance to improve to 4-0.
We play five games this week and we need to rest some arms, Scott coach Rob Smith said. If we didn't need Trammel at catcher, he would probably be second in our rotation.
Junior Danny Heidrich, Trammel's replacement at catcher, had a big day at the plate, collecting three hits, including a two-run homer in the second inning to put Scott up 5-0.
Ryle 7, Newport CC 1, at Ryle Junior Scott Buckler improved to 7-1 with the complete-game victory.
Bellevue 11, Ludlow 5, at Ludlow Junior Eric Heck broke out of a slump and hit for the cycle while Brian Fromeyer drove in four runs with two doubles.
The victory enabled the Tigers to share the Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference Division III title with Beechwood for the second consecutive season.
