CINCINNATI HIGH SCHOOL REPORT
McAuley's Zoller perfect in 1-0 victory
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The celebration by the McAuley softball team was for more than just the 1-0 victory over St.Ursula.
I didn't know until after the game that I had pitched a perfect game, McAuley senior Sarah Zoller said. It was the same last year when I had a perfect game against Ursuline.
Mixing well-placed fastballs with off-speed pitches, Zoller mastered the fourth-seeded Bulldogs in the Cincinnati Division I sectional tournament at Lakota West.
This was the fifth consecutive game in which Zoller did not allow an earned run, and the sixth consecutive victory for the Mohawks.
We held a team party at our home two weeks ago and we haven't lost since, Zoller said. Everyone had a lot of fun, and it seemed to bring us together.
Jennifer Noonan's double drove in Shayna Huber from second base in the fourth inning for McAuley's only run. The Mohawks advance to the second round against Norwood.
Clermont Northeastern 10, Goshen 9, Division II sectional at Riverstar Park The Rockets scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh with Danielle Kenser driving in the winning run with a single.
Wyoming 13, Ripley 10, Division II sectional at Riverstar Park Sophomore Maria Phillips drove in four runs, and pitcher Liz Gale struck out 13 and went 3-for-5 for the Cowboys.
Reading 7, Finneytown 3, Division II sectional at Riverstar Park Kristen Nolte's bases-load ed triple triggered a five-run rally in the fourth inning, paving the way for the victory.
Deer Park 6, Taylor 3, Division II sectional at Riverstar Park The Wildcats took advantage of 10 walks and two hit batters to upset the second-seeded Yellowjackets.
Hillsboro 7, Greenfield McClain 0, Division II sectional at Hillsboro The Indians avenged a 3-2 regular-season loss to McClain with Jennifer Butts pitching her third shutout of the season.
