Rader's HRs lead Dixie Heights
Leadoff batter hits 2 against Highlands
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Junior Kyle Rader is known as a contact hitter for Dixie Heights, batting in the leadoff spot for the Colonels.
On Monday at Highland Park against Highlands, Rader hit two balls over the right-center field fence, driving in five runs to help Dixie Heights to a 9-4 victory over Highlands.
Kyle was pretty happy until I told him they moved the fences in for today's game, Dixie Heights coach Chris Maxwell said. The home runs were Kyle's first this season.
Also a relief pitcher, Rader retired six consecutive batters in the sixth and seventh innings to preserve the victory.
Kyle has been one of our biggest surprises, Maxwell said. He pitched several games for the varsity last season but played most of the time for the JV team.
Lloyd 13, Boone County 11 Robert Bryson continued to swing a hot bat for the Juggernauts.
Duplicating his effort on Friday, Bryson hit two more home runs and drove in six runs.
Grant County 4, Williamstown 3 Craig Hammonds drove in Nick Deitz with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the Warriors.
Bishop Brossart 13, Campbell County 2 When Justin Seiter is on the pitching mound, the Mustangs are nearly invincible.
In a five-inning game, Seiter limited neighborhood rival Campbell County to two hits, giving Brossart its 14th victory of the season.
Covington Catholic 11, Simon Kenton 2 After winning the prestigious Scott Knochelman Memorial Tournament on Sunday, the Colonels followed up with another impressive performance.
Bret Dietz provided the pitching, a three-hitter, and Jon Hembree the offense, driving in four runs while going 3-for-5 with a home run.
Walton-Verona 9, Scott 2 Sophomore Josh Thornton hit a three- run, two-out double in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie.

Amy Simpson hit a solo home run in the third inning, which proved to be the winning run.
