No. 1's Hamilton, Ross toppled
Fairfield, Mason pull the upsets

It was a bad day for two No.1-ranked baseball teams from Butler County. Both suffered costly defeats.
Fairfield took a 4-1 lead and held off a late Hamilton rally to hand the Big Blue a 4-3 setback in a Greater Miami Conference game at Hamilton.
Ross also suffered a costly 8-0 defeat at the hands of Mason, with Brad Tester throwing a three-hitter.
The Rams, ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer's Division II-III-IV poll, saw their lead cut to one in the FAVC with Kings and Mason in pursuit.
Ranked No. 1 in The Enquirer's Division I baseball poll and No. 8 in the USA Today Super 25 Poll, Hamilton saw its lead in the GMC cut to one game and its chances for a national title greatly diminished.
Junior Ryan Pettit drove in what proved to be the winning run in the seventh inning, a single that scored Everett Hibbard. Hamilton cut the deficit to one on Terry Stone's two- run homer in the bottom of the inning.
Cincinnati Christian 9, Georgetown 5, Division IV at Tealtown Park The Cougars won their first tournament game in three years with Matt Garrettson's two-run double the big hit.
Softball
Norwood 27, Winton Woods 11, Division I sectional at Lakota West The Paul sisters, Kelly and Ashley, combined for six hits, seven runs scored and three runs batted in for the Indians, setting a school record for the most runs scored.
McNicholas 13, Turpin 2, Division I sectional at Rumpke Park Freshman Casey Ruberg smacked three triples and Carrie Alberts drove in four runs.
Loveland 15, Milford 4 The Tigers took advantage of 23 walks to record the lopsided victory.
Anderson 9, Kings 3, Division I at Rumpke Park The Redskins scored six runs in the third inning, with Lisa Hensley coming through with a two-run single.
Colerain 14, Western Hills 0, Division I sectional at Lakota West Senior pitcher Tracy Joeckem went the distance and didn't allow an earned run for the second consecutive game.
Hamilton Badin 2, Purcell Marian 1, Division II sectional at Riverstar Christa Strunk led off the seventh with a single and scored from third on a wild throw with no outs for the winning run.
Indian Hill 8, Mariemont 4, Division II at Riverstar The Braves avenged two regular-season losses to the Warriors with pitcher Mandy Barnes scattering five hits to pick up the victory.
Roger Bacon 3, Bethel-Tate 2, Division II at Riverstar Jackie Gering struck out nine and allowed only two hits while Emily Holt came through with the game winning sacrifice fly.
Portsmouth Notre Dame 8, North Adams 6, Division III sectional at Portsmouth Notre Dame scored seven unearned runs on five errors by the Green Devils.
