MIGHTY DUCKS 6, KENTUCKY 4
T-blades hardly scare Cincinnati
LEXINGTON, Ky. The Kentucky Thoroughblades tried to intimidate the Mighty Ducks Saturday at Rupp Arena, but Cincinnati stuck to hockey and skated away with a 6-4 victory at Rupp Arena.
The Ducks, winners of four of their last six games (4-1-1-0), took a 4-1 lead midway through the second period on goals by Mike Leclerc (power play), Craig Reichert (power play), Ivan Ciernik and Lloyd Shaw.
Kentucky goals 3:29 apart in the period by NHL veterans Shawn Burr and Mike Craig made it 4-3.
Cincinnati went ahead 5-3 on Anders Bjork's fifth goal of the season while the Ducks were shorthanded at 15:31 of the period. Less than a minute later, Steffon Walby took a feed in the slot from out of the right corner by Eric Veilleux and beat Ducks' goalie Jamie Ram for a power play goal to bring the T-blades within one.
The Ducks weathered the storm when Ciernik scored his second goal of the game into an empty-net with Kentucky goalie Sean Gauthier pulled in favor of a sixth attacker.
Rasto Pavlikovsky and Igor Nikulin each had three assists for Cincinnati, which improved its record to within one game of .500 at 35-36-2-4. Mike Crowley extended his consecutive-
game assist streak to six.
Ram, a former Thoroughblade, stopped 22 shots to earn his 14th victory of the season.
The Ducks played the final two periods without forwards Bob Wren and Frank Banham. Wren took an elbow from T-blades defenseman Christian Gosselin. Banham was hit in the eye with a high stick.
