MIGHTY DUCKS 3, HERSHEY 2
BY DAVE HELLER

The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks survived a first-period malaise and a late Hershey rally in upending the Bears 3-2 at Cincinnati Gardens.
The game was typical of the AHL season series. Six of the last seven meetings between the two clubs have been decided by one goal. Four times Hershey and Cincinnati went to overtime.
The Ducks trailed 1-0 after the first, a period in which they seemed to be playing at half-speed. We had a little discussion after the first period; we had to get back to skating, using our speed, Ducks coach Moe Mantha said.
Rasto Pavlikovsky gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead, but Frank Banham deserved credit for the score. Banham worked his way into the Hershey zone, then slid the puck through the legs of Nick Bootland and recovered the puck after slipping by the Bears left wing. Hershey goalie Marc Denis moved toward the left post anticipating a Banham shot, but Banham instead passed across the crease to a wide-open Pavlikovsky, who easily deposited the puck into the largely vacated net.
I shoot a lot, Banham said, so when I start to pass I can trick a lot of goalies and a lot D-men because they're expecting a shot. Cincinnati tied the game 1-1 on a Bob Wren power play goal with 6:23 elapsed in the second.
Craig Reichert scored 33 seconds into the third period to give the Ducks a 3-1 lead.
Since missing four games for personal reasons, Reichert has two goals in three games. It turned out to be a big goal as Rob Shearer scored on a deflection with 3:17 left.
Hershey scored the only goal during a sloppy first period.
