HERSHEY 3, MIGHTY DUCKS 2
Cincinnati loses chance to close gap on third place
HERSHEY, Pa. Center Serge Aubin scored 34 seconds into overtime to give the Hershey Bears a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Saturday at Hersheypark Arena.
The Bears snapped a three-game losing streak and increased their lead to five points over surging Cincinnati for third place in the AHL's Mid-Atlantic Division with two weeks left in the regular season.
Cincinnati, which finished an eight-game, 14-day road trip Saturday with a 3-4-1-0 record, fell for just the second time in overtime this season with both losses coming against Hershey.
Goals by defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski in the second period and winger Mike Leclerc (power play) in the third put the Ducks ahead after 17-year veteran Mitch Lamoureux had given the Bears a 1-0 lead.
Paul Brousseau, who led the AHL in goals with 45 last season while playing for Adirondack, tipped in a shot by Mike Gaul from the right point for only his eighth goal of the season on a Hershey power play at 6:48 of the third period to tie it.
Aubin's game-winner gave him 23 goals on the season and marked the fifth time in 23 career meetings the Bears have beaten the Ducks in overtime.
