Ottawa recalls 'Clones goalie
Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Frederic Cassivi has been recalled by the NHL Ottawa Senators to serve as backup while starter Ron Tugnutt recovers from a sprained knee. Cassivi, 23, has a 12-12-2 record this season and 3.15 goals against average. Cassivi posted his fifth pro shutout and first with Cincinnati Saturday.
He is the fourth Cyclones player recalled by an NHL club this season. Goaltender Jani Hurmi was recalled by Ottawa Dec. 23, while defenseman Chris Joseph was called up by the Philadelphia Flyers Dec. 11 and defenseman Geoff Smith was taken by the Rangers Feb. 13 and then traded.
MIGHTY DUCKS: Offensive defenseman Mike Crowley has been re-assigned to the AHL Cincinnati by Anaheim. Crowley, 23, has appeared in 26 games with Cincinnati this season, scoring four goals and 12 assists for 16 points with 18 penalty minutes. He leads the team with a plus-16 rating.
The 5-11, 190-pounder has appeared in 20 NHL games this season with Anaheim, with five points on two goals and three assists.
