East Clinton wins Division II sectional




        East Clinton made six consecutive free throws with less than 1:10 to play to beat Greeneview 48-45 Friday for the Division III boys basketball sectional title at UD Arena.

        Mike Reynolds, Eric Slagle and Kevin Chance each hit a pair of free throws in the final stretch.

        Greeneview had taken a 40-39 fourth-quarter lead after 12-0 run.

        Chance led East Clinton with 13 points; Matt Miller added 10.

        East Clinton will play Madeira 5:30p.m. Tuesday or Wednesday in the districts.

        GREENEVIEW (45) — Linville 6 1 16, Haynes 1 0 3, Pauley 1 0 2, Thomas 4 2 12, Mathews 1 1 3, Caraway 1 0 2, McClure 0 7 7. Totals: 14 11 45.

        EAST CLINTON (48) — Slagle 2 2 6, Mellinger 2 0 5, Reynolds 2 2 6, Boggs 4 0 8, Miller 5 0 10, Chance 2 7 13. Totals: 17 11 48.
