Western Hills, Oak Hills share QCCA title

        Western Hills and Oak Hills tied for the Queen City Conference American Division title with easy victories Friday night.

        Western Hills, which earned its first title since winning the Public High School League in 1984-85, romped past Turpin 112-47 at Turpin.

        Oak Hills earned its share as Nick Sellett and Brian Djenge scored double figures in a 70-31 victory over Glen Este.

        The title is Oak Hills' second title in as many years.

        The Highlanders are without a league for next season as they get ready to move into the Greater Miami Conference in two years and a new building next fall.

        • Moeller 68, LaSalle 65, at LaSalle — Mike Monserez made two free-throws with five seconds left to put Moeller up 68-65. Jeremy Duncan forced a turnover on LaSalle's ensuing possession, and the Crusaders held on to win.

        The win clinches second place in the GCL-South for Moeller.

        Monserez led all scorers with 21 points. Chris Welsch added 17 for Moeller.

        Brad Hoffman and Steve Esterkamp scored 19 points apiece to pace LaSalle.

        • Hamilton Badin 61, Chaminade-Julienne 58, at Badin — Senior guard Matt Broermann sank five free throws in the closing minutes as Badin held on for the season ending victory.

        The Rams led by as much as 12 in the fourth quarter, but Chaminade rallied with six three-pointers in the last 3:30 to cut the lead.

        Broermann paced badin with 29 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Andy Brown chipped in with 17.

        • Purcell Marian 55, McNicholas 52, at McNicholas — Brandon Salamone hit a three-pointer with under a minute to play to win the game for the Cavaliers.

        Purcell Marian got off to a fast start in the first half behind Keith Jackson, who scored 14 of his 24 points in the half, to take a 31-17 halftime lead.

        Jaime Cooper added 19 points for Purcell Marian. McNicholas was led by Ryan Ogletree with 19 points.

        Lionel Calhoun grabbed six rebounds in the last ninety seconds, while the Wildcats made all nine of their free throws in that span.

        Finneytown's 14th win was its most in one season since 1981.

        Walker finished with a team-high 25 points, while Brenden Flood added 17. Adam Monday scored 25 points to lead Wyoming.

        The win wraps up third place in the CHL for Indian Hill.
