McMillan carries Aiken with 42 points, 32 rebounds

        Paul McMillan came through with a career night for the Aiken boys basketball team in a 77-71 double overtime victory over the Woodward Bulldogs at Aiken.

        Besides scoring six points in the second overtime, McMillan tallied a career-high 42 points, pulled down a single game school-record 32 rebounds, blocked eight shots and came up with eight steals.

        “I've never seen a kid dominate like Paul did tonight,” Aiken coach Eric Thomas said. “You name it and Paul did it. It was a consistent effort throughout the game.”

        McMillan blocked a shot with a minute to go in the second overtime, took it the length of the court and scored. He then stole the inbounds pass and put it back up to give Aiken a four-point lead with 30 seconds to play.

        “I didn't notice anything different about Paul before the game,” Thomas said. “It wasn't something that I forecasted.”

        The win was Aiken's third in a row and moved them a half game back of Woodward for second place in the MCC behind leader Withrow.

        Brett Potter paced Woodward with 19 points.
