Taft picks Democrat for unemployment post

The Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The former leader of House Democrats is Gov. Bob Taft's choice for a seat on the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review.

Rep. Ross Boggs of Andover will begin his five-year term on Feb. 28, Mr. Taft announced Friday. He replaces fellow Democrat Susan Bergansky of Bedford Heights, whose term expires.

Mr. Boggs, who was House minority leader during the last two-year legislative session, was replaced by Rep. Jack Ford of Toledo after the Nov. 3 election.

Mr. Taft also appointed former Ohio Tax Commissioner Roger Tracy to a seat on the State Personnel Board of Review, which deals with civil service appeals.

Mr. Tracy, a Republican from New Albany, replaces Richard Lumpe, an independent from Columbus, whose term expired.

Salaries had not been set for either job.

Mr. Taft also re-appointed Michael Hogan of Upper Arlington director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health.
