Logan large for UC
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Steve Logan didn't know what he was getting into. Then he looked around UC's locker room and noticed the silence. Tense silence.
No one said anything in pregame, he said. We were too pumped up.
UC's freshman point guard was indoctrinated into Shootout lore with a brilliant debut Thursday, scoring 17 points in 171/2 minutes. He made two three-pointers, both in the final 11 minutes, including a shot with 3:09 left that pushed a 73-72 lead to 76-72.
When I'm out there, I really don't think about being a freshman, Logan said. I just think about doing what's best for the team.
Logan got a taste of Shootout intensity all week. UC coach Bob Huggins rode him hard in practice.
I found out about the importance of this game Monday, when the toughest week of my life started, he said. The coaches said I had to take care of the ball, play defense, and hit the open shots.
Huggins was impressed.
Seventeen points in 17 minutes from a freshman is pretty good, he said.
