Pope gets CD, music video
BY JANELLE GELFAND
The Cincinnati Enquirer
It's a first: a CD featuring the voice of Pope John Paul II.
The Holy Father delivers prayers, homilies and chants in five languages on Abba Pater, to be released March 23 by Sony Classical.
The recordings are from live broadcasts during the pope's 20-year papacy. They are backed by an eclectic musical canvas blending classical, world music and some new compositions, all approved by the Vatican.
Abba Pater has 11 tracks with themes such as charity, forgiveness and reconciliation. One of the tracks, Pater Noster (Our Father) will be produced as a music video, to be aired on a network to be announced later.
