OSU loses Boston; Katzenmoyer undecided
The Associated Press
COLUMBUS Wide receiver David Boston said Wednesday he'll pass up his senior season at Ohio State to make himself available for the NFL draft.
Boston, a second-team All-American, said he was uncertain when he might be taken, but added, I feel I'm a sure first-rounder.
His presence in the pros will create an interesting problem. His father, Byron Boston, is a line judge in his fourth year in the league. It will be the first time that the NFL has had to reschedule games to prevent an official working games involving his son.
It's definitely a unique situation, said Dean Blandino, who works in the league's officiating division. I think what they're going to do, he just won't be assigned to any game in which David could play.
The decision by the younger Boston came two days before underclassmen must declare their intention to be included in the draft.
Ohio State is awaiting word from linebacker Andy Katzenmoyer, a third-team All-American. Katzenmoyer reportedly has met with Ohio State defensive coordinator Fred Pagac and is still mulling his decision.
Boston set Ohio State records for receptions in a game (14), season (85) and career (191), receiving yards in a season (1,435) and career (2,855) and touchdown catches in a career (34).
