Star Banc shares rise $6

Thursday, October 15, 1998

Shares of Star Banc Corp. gained $6 Wednesday to close at $67.12 1/2. The 10 percent uptick came a day after the Cincinnati-based banking company announced strong third quarter financial results. At least four Wall Street analysts Wednesday boosted their earnings current-quarter and 1999 estimates for Star.

Investors also are bullish about Star because of its string of recent acquisitions and their positive impact on the company's bottom line. Investors also are optimistic Star will benefit from its pending acquisition of Milwaukee-based Firstar Corp.
