Burglary ring suspect identified
Rash of robberies reaches 30

Police are adding more cases to the list of a five-month string of violent robberies in the Tristate that may be connected to the same gang of robbers.

The count has reached 30 robberies with similar characteristics: Two or three armed masked men overpower store managers as they open or close the business and demand money. One clerk has been shot in the arm, and several others have been pistol-whipped.

Police have released have a warrant out for the arrest of a suspect.

Errich Mincy, 20, allegedly pistol-whipped a clerk June 12 at J&K Pony Keg in Pleasant Ridge. The clerk required eight staples for a head wound. Mr. Mincy's mother lives in Pleasant Ridge. He also has listed an address on Langdon Farm Road in Bond Hill. He is 5-foot-8 and 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a gold front tooth and may drive a 1986 Buick with Ohio temporary tag R699768.

  • Springdale police Detective Andy Davis said police are hoping to nab the robbers before the violence increases to a shootout. "Everybody is trying to draw connections," he said. "Some of these were really brutal."

    The robberies have occurred from as far north as Butler County's Union Township to possibly as far south as Crescent Springs.

    The most recent cases:

  • Thursday's attack of a clerk at Homewood Suites Hotel on East Kemper Road in Sharonville. Three people wearing dark clothes and stocking masks entered the hotel about 12:10 a.m., showed a handgun, struck the clerk in the face, took money and ran.

  • Shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, three masked men entered LaRosa's restaurant on Colerain Avenue in Colerain Township, pistol-whipped two employees and took more than $300. One robber carried a gun and another was armed with a tire iron.

  • Just hours later, at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Hampshire House Hotel was hit at TriCounty Parkway in Springdale. Three men in stocking masks and dark clothes overpowered a clerk and struck her in the face with a tire iron.

  • Northern Kentucky police also have a possible connected robbery. Arby's Restaurant in Crescent Springs was robbed Aug. 5. Two men jumped the manager as she opened the store about 4:45 a.m., put a gun to her head, told her to turn off the alarm and open the safe. Police said the robbers then took money and tied her up with aprons and stuck her in a closet.

    Anyone with information is asked to call Cincinnati police Detective Richard Wullenweber at 357-7531 or 352-3591. Crime Stoppers also is seeking information at 352-3040. Tips to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous, and callers can earn rewards for information that leads to arrests.
