Cincinnati police caught up with a teen-age bank robbery suspect Monday, minutes after he allegedly dropped a knife used in a holdup at PNC bank in College Hill.
Police say a robber entered the bank, at 5851 Hamilton Ave., a little before noon. He threatened the bank manager with a knife and demanded money.
The suspect was caught near the Aiken High School football field. The 15-year-old, whose name was not released, was charged with aggravated robbery.
2 Mercy hospitals get new presidents
Fred L. Kolb has been named president of Mercy Hospital Anderson and Clermont Mercy Hospital -- two of the four Mercy hospitals in Greater Cincinnati.
Mr. Kolb replaces Karen Ehrat, who resigned in April.
Since November, Mr. Kolb had been an interim vice president at Mercy Hospital Anderson. Before joining the Mercy system, Mr. Kolb had worked for nearly 10 years in executive positions at Good Samaritan, Bethesda North and Bethesda Oak hospitals.
Midwife program to start at 7 Hills
The Seven Hills Women's Health Center, a 19-member medical group with 11 offices, plans to launch a midwifery program effective July 15.
A growing number of patients are requesting certified nurse-midwives to assist with pregnancy and childbirth, said the group's medical director, Joseph Sclafani. The Seven Hills midwives will be Susan Holden and Sue Comte, who will work with patients at Mercy Hospital Anderson.
GE fund gives $62,800 to Xavier
The General Electric Fund's Corporate Alumni Program has given almost $62,800 to Xavier University.
Xavier will use the money to provide aid to students, expand technology and improve library resources.
Under the program, the company matches donations by GE employees, retirees and directors. GE employees and retirees gave more than $8 million last year to colleges and universities.
Since the matching-fund program began in 1954, the GE Fund has matched more than $85 million in gifts.
Census looking for representatives
The U.S. Census Bureau will interview candidates for part-time field representative positions on July 17.
Interviews and tests will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission offices, 138 E. Court St., Room 807, downtown Cincinnati.

Blood donations will net ice cream
Tristate residents can get a free pint of ice cream by giving a pint of blood July 18 at Northgate Mall.
The "Give a pint, get a pint" blood drive is one of several efforts planned by Hoxworth Blood Center to increase blood donations during the summer. The drive runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Lazarus wing of the mall, in a space across from Rack Room Shoes.
Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 100 pounds. For more information: 451-0910.
