        Junior forward Kevin Reinhardt and senior guard Steve Sigmon each scored 17 points in a 72-59 victory over Mason County on the Royals' floor.

        Highlands' Ross Neltner scored four of his 15 points in overtime to lead the Bluebirds to a 49-46 victory over Simon Kenton in a Ninth Region semifinal Friday at Holmes.
Campbell Co. reaches 10th Region final
        Senior guard Steve Sigmon scored 31 points and made 11 of his 12 foul shots in the fourth quarter to help Campbell County to a 66-58 victory over Montgomery County in the 10th Region semifinals.

        DAYTON — With almost seven minutes remaining, Josh Hausfeld sat on the end of the bench with ice on his right ankle. Frank Phillips, saddled with four fouls, was beside him. But because the Spartans' depth extends well beyond their two stars, they weren't in trouble Thursday.

        Bill Theising was one of three East Central players in doubles figures as the Trojans won defeated Connersville 61-42 in the opening game of the Division Class 4A Section sectional 10 tournament in New Castle.

St. Xavier back on track, ousts Withrow
        St. Xavier, the defending Division I state champion, has suddenly become a team to watch again. The Bombers, who had struggled recently, beat Withrow 59-43 to win the Cincinnati Division I lower bracket sectional.

Elder too tall for Colerain
        Starting four players 6-foot-1 or less often created mismatches in Colerain's favor this season. Not Monday night.

Lebanon no match for Springfield South
        Tye Walker and Mitchell Crossley each scored 18 points and Elgrace Wilborn added 17 as Springfield South eliminated Lebanon in a Division I sectional at UD Arena.

Middletown loses in double overtime
        Beavercreek converted 25 free throws, eight in the second overtime, to defeat Middletown 60-52 in a Dayton Division I boys sectional at Wright State University.

Conner takes out top-ranked CovCath
        The Cougars earned their trip to the boys Ninth Region semifinals at Holmes by pulling one of the biggest upsets of the season, a 61-55 victory over Covington Catholic.
NewCath, Myers turn tables on Scott
        Corey Myers had heard it for two months. The Newport Central Catholic senior center listened to people say he disappeared when Scott beat the Thouroughbreds in January. But he quieted them in Monday's boys Ninth Region tournament opener.
