Wright gets scare in first game back
By Bill Koch The Cincinnati Enquirer
Mike Wright thought his leg was broken.
The University of Cincinnati defensive tackle, making his first start after spending a year rehabbing a torn left anterior cruciate ligament, got his leg caught in a pile early in the third quarter of UC's win over East Carolina and had to be helped off the field.
"My ankle popped," Wright said. "It sounded like I broke my lower leg. I heard it crack twice."
Wright pounded his fist on the sideline training table while the leg was examined and covered his head with a towel as he was driven off the field on a cart to have X-rays.
Much to his relief, there was no break, just a sprain. He hopes to be able to play in two weeks when UC plays its next game at West Virginia.
