6 NCAA tourney teams await Bearcats this year

The University of Cincinnati's 2003-04 basketball schedule includes games against six teams that played in last year's NCAA Tournament, including a Jan. 14 game at Marquette, the defending Conference USA champion and Final Four participant.

The Bearcats also will begin a new series against Wake Forest with a Feb. 15 game in Winston Salem, N.C. The Demon Deacons were ranked No. 8 last year in the final Associated Press poll and won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season championship.

The other NCAA Tournament teams from last year are Dayton, Louisville, Memphis and Xavier. The Bearcats play the Musketeers in the annual Crosstown Shootout on Feb. 3 at Cintas Center.

For the first time since the league expanded to 14 teams in 2001-02, UC will play every conference school at least once. The Bearcats will play home and away against Louisville, DePaul and Charlotte. They also will play local rival Miami at U.S. Bank Arena for the second straight year and will open their regular season Nov. 22 at home against Akron.

The Conference USA tournament, scheduled for March 10-13, will be played at U.S. Bank Arena.
