By Michael Perry
The Cincinnati Enquirer

University of Cincinnati sophomore Jason Maxiell has been selected to the All-Conference USA Preseason Basketball Team, as chosen by the league's coaches.

Maxiell, a 6-foot-7 forward, is joined by Dwyane Wade (Marquette), Reece Gaines (Louisville), Andre Brown (DePaul) and Marque Perry (Saint Louis). Wade is the Preseason Player of the Year.

Last season, Maxiell averaged 8.1 points and 6.8 rebounds and was C-USA's Sixth Man of the Year. He is on the list of 50 preseason candidates for the John Wooden All-America Team.

The Bearcats have been picked by the coaches to win the C-USA's American Division for what would be the eighth consecutive time.

MCELROY SIGNS:Former Bearcat Immanuel McElroy signed a one-year deal with the Grand Rapids HOOPS of the Continental Basketball Association. McElroy, C-USA's Defensive Player of the Year last season, was taken in the fifth round (29th overall) of the CBA draft.
