WEST HARRISON, Ind. — A bruised left quadriceps muscle will force Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Gino Guidugli to sit out of a team scrimmage today, head coach Rick Minter said Friday.

        Guidugli, the 2001 Conference USA Freshman of the Year, suffered the injury during morning practice at the Higher Ground Retreat and Conference Center.

        “I don't know what happened,” Guidugli said. “We were running a play-action pass from the pocket. I was hit by either a helmet or a knee.”

        Guidugli received icing and electrical stimulation treatment. He sat out of the afternoon practice and is listed as day-to-day.

        “We'll probably hold him for a day or two until we find out more, but I don't think it's anything serious,” Minter said.
