Ex-UC star Blount becomes a Bull again

The Associated Press

CHICAGO — Former University of Cincinnati star Corie Blount signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, returning to the team that chose him with the 25th pick in the 1993 NBA draft. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

“Corie fills an important need on this team,” coach Bill Cartwright said. “He's a solid veteran who can defend all three frontcourt positions, rebounds well, fits in with our desire to run more than in the past and is a playoff veteran.”

The 6-10, 242-pound forward spent last season with the Philadelphia 76ers. He started 21 games and played in 72, averaging 3.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Blount left the Bulls after the 1994-95 season and played nearly four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers before he was waived in March 1999 and signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also has played for Phoenix and Golden State.
