Wilder's tip-in gives UC women 56-55 win

Enquirer news services

Laura Wilder scored on a tip-in with less than a second remaining to give Cincinnati a 56-55 victory over Saint Louis Friday night.

Wilder, who tipped in Valerie King's missed shot, finished with nine points. Debbie Merrill scored 16 points and King added 14 to lead the Bearcats (18-4, 7-3 Conference USA).

Harmonie King gave the Billikens (11-11, 4-5) the lead with 39 seconds to play, and Wilder missed a shot with 18 seconds remaining. A foul was called on Merrill on the rebound, but UC had two fouls to give and, after a foul by Wilder, Merrill stole the in-bounds pass for the Bearcats.

King led Saint Louis with 14 points.
