Logan wins C-USA Player of Year




        UC guard Steve Logan will be named Conference USA's Player of the Year today, The Cincinnati Enquirer has learned.

        Logan, a 6-foot junior, averaged 20.9 points in C-USA games to lead the league and averaged 17.6 points overall.

        A Bearcat has won the league's top player award three times in the conference's six-year history.

        Other awards announced Tuesday:

        Sixth player of the year: Altron Jackson, South Florida, F, 6-6, 180, Jr., Sarasota, Fla. (Riverview).

        Defensive player of the year: Vandarel Jones, Southern Miss, C, 6-9, 230, Sr., Moorhead, Miss. (Gentry).

        Freshman of the year: Rodney White, Charlotte, F, 6-9, 230, Philadelphia, Pa. (Newport Prep).

        All-freshman team: Odartey Blankson, Marquette, F, 6-7, 205, Country Club Hills, Ill. (Hillcrest) Alton Ford, Houston, C, 6-9, 270, Houston, Texas (Milby) Scooter McFadgon, Memphis, G, 6-5, 190, Memphis, Tenn. (Raleigh-Egypt) Imari Sawyer, DePaul, G, 6-2, 170, Chicago, Ill. (King) Rodney White, Charlotte, F, 6-9, 230, Philadelphia, Pa. (Newport Prep).
