UC's King win conference honor

Cincinnati's Valerie King was one of five players named to the Conference USA all-freshman team, announced Thursday.

Joining King are Houston's Chandi Jones, C-USA's freshman of the year; Louisville's Sara Nord; Memphis' Princess Swilley, and UAB's Natasha Thomas.

King enters the Conference USA Tournament ranked seventh in the league in scoring and first out of all active freshmen with an average of 15.3 points a game. She was the only freshman to be named the C-USA Player of the Week twice this season and became just the third freshman in UC program history to lead the team in scoring.
