UC recruit upbeat on visit

UC Notebook

Jimmy Hubbard, making an official recruiting visit to the University of Cincinnati, said before Sunday night's UC-Marquette game if his trip goes well and the Bearcats offer him a scholarship, he will probably accept and not make any other visits.

The 6-foot-6 small forward from Johnson County Community College in Shawnee Mission, Kan., said the only other school he is considering is Oklahoma State.

Hubbard was being recruited by Arkansas-Little Rock, Birmingham Southern and Southwest Missouri State before the Jayhawk Shootout in December at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.

“It's been nuts,” Hubbard said. “It's been overwhelming. That's what you dream of when you're growing up and playing basketball, playing at that level. It looks like I'm going to have a chance.”

Hubbard, from Belton, Mo., said he likes the idea of leaving the Kansas City area.

MILESTONE MAN: Junior guard Steve Logan became the 39th Bearcat to reach the 1,000-point mark for his career on Thursday, and now he begins to climb the charts.

He went into Sunday with 1,008 points and was already No. 37. With six points, he would move into 36th place. He also had the fifth-most 3-pointers (148) and the third-best 3-point percentage (.384) in school history.

UP NEXT: UC plays host to Saint Louis at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday. The Billikens are 13-11, 5-6 C-USA. They defeated Cincinnati 71-62 in overtime last month.
