Huggins makes Bearcats practice in plain clothes
By Michael Perry
The Cincinnati Enquirer
For the second time this season, the University of Cincinnati players were not permitted to dress for practice in their locker room. But Thursday, coach Bob Huggins went a step further: The Bearcats had to wear plain gray T-shirts and black shorts.
I think Coach makes a great point in having us wear these things, junior Jamaal Davis said. We really don't come out and play like Cincinnati Bearcats, so why should we dress like them?
I thought it was funny, to tell you the truth, but also like a motivation, sophomore center Donald Little said. It doesn't bother me at all. I don't want to look silly, but that's the way it goes.
Huggins would not comment specifically on his latest attempt to ignite his players after Wednesday night's 63-54 home loss to Lousiville.
At some point in time, it's got to come from within, he said. Hopefully some guys grow up. Some of them may never get it, but we've got to get enough of them that get it to at least go out and compete and play hard and give an effort.
I hate to lose, but it's more the way we lose. ... We didn't give an honest effort (against Louisville).
Junior Steve Logan, who became ill before Wednesday night's game, did not practice Thursday.
