UC women 72, Butler 44




        Valerie King scored 12 points and Tammy Douglass and Kristen Sharp each had 10 as the Bearcats won their eighth straight game.

        Laura Wilder had six rebounds for Cincinnati (10-1).

        The Bearcats shot 71 percent in the first half and led 51-24 at halftime. They outrebounded the Bulldogs 16-9 in the period.

        UC's reserves, playing the majority of the second half, helped Cincinnati lead by as many as 36 points, with just less than eight minutes left in regulation.

        Butler shot 32.1 percent for the game. The Bulldogs had 27 turnovers, which led to 31 points for the Bearcats.

        Julie Schrader led the Butler with 13 points and six rebounds.

        Cincinnati will play at Louisville at 2p.m. Sunday in the Conference USA opener for both teams.
