UC junior walk-on Rodney Crawford, wearing a cast and walking on crutches, said Wednesday that he broke his right ankle in Tuesday's practice.

“I was going for a rebound and planted wrong,” the 6-foot-5 forward said. “I came out today and I couldn't even walk. I couldn't put any pressure on it.”

Crawford's ankle was X-rayed Wednesday, and it showed a break. How severe the injury and how much time Crawford might miss is undetermined, said trainer Jayd Grossman. Crawford is expected to be examined today by team or thopedic surgeon Dr. Angelo Colosimo, who was in Detroit on Wednesday with the UC football team.

Crawford has six points and 24 rebounds in six games, including a career-high 10 rebounds against Youngstown State. He has averaged 14.2 minutes and been solid defensively.
