Kenner probable for Miami game
University of Cincinnati quarterback Deontey Kenner, who had to sit out the second half of the Louisville game two weeks ago because he aggravated a torn stomach muscle he thought had healed, could be back at the controls Saturday vs. Miami at Nippert Stadium.
He practiced Tuesday, so indications are he could start against Miami if he remains healthy the rest of the week.
UC place-kicker Jonathon Ruffin has been named to The Sporting News midseason All-America team. He leads the nation in field goals per game (2.4). His 17 field goals (in 19 tries through seven games) equals the Bearcats' single-season mark. He ranks second in the Confer ence USA record book, six short of the 23 hit by Tulane's Brad Palazzo in 1997.
Ruffin's streak of 12 straight field goals (over five games) shattered the old UC record of eight straight.
The sophomore from Metairie, La., is one of two C-USA athletes on TSN's midseason All-America team. The other is Southern Miss defensive end Cedric Scott.
UC coach Rick Minter's weekly radio talk show on WLW-AM (700) has been moved to Montgomery Inn, Montgomery. The show will remain in the 8-9p.m. Thursday time slot. The public is welcome to attend the tapings.
