UC's Goin withdraws as NC State candidate

University of Cincinnati athletic director Bob Goin has informed North Carolina State University he is no longer interested in pursuing the athletic director vacancy at that school, UC announced Wednesday.

“It appears to me that they (NC State) are looking for someone who will make a long-term commitment to the job,” Goin said in a statement. “I don't have the desire to make that extensive a commitment.”

Goin, 63, expressed interest in retiring when his UC contract expires after the 2002-03 academic year.
