N.C. State looking at Bearcats' AD Goin
By Mike DeCourcy
The Cincinnati Enquirer
North Carolina State has approached University of Cincinnati athletic director Bob Goin about filling its vacant AD position.
Goin, who has been at UC since the fall of 1997, is one of a handful of candidates N.C.State is considering. He is believed to have visited the campus earlier this week, although he would not confirm it. Wyoming athletic director Lee Moon also is being considered.
I'm not campaigning for it, Goin said. I'm very happy at Cincinnati. I've got a nice position here.
Goin's name entered into the search as a result of his connection to new Wolfpack football coach Chuck Amato. Goin and Amato worked together for nearly 15 years, when Goin was an athletic administrator at Florida State and Amato was assistant head coach for the Seminoles. Goin recommended Amato to NC State.
The athletic director job opened when Les Robinson left to take a similar post at The Citadel.
