It turns out Kenyon Martin has not played his final game at the Shoemaker Center.

Martin, the No.1 pick in June's NBA draft, will join his New Jersey Nets teammates for an exhibition game at the Shoe against the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday Oct. 27. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. It is the first NBA game in Cincinnati since the Nets played the Utah Jazz at the Firstar Center in 1997.

Martin is expected to start at power forward for the Nets, who finished the 1999-2000 season with a 31-51 record, in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.

In his final season at UC, Martin swept the major player of the year awards and led UC to a 28-2 record in games he finished. He broke his leg in the first game of the Conference USA tournament and was done for the season.

Martin has been rehabilitating the leg and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2000-01 season.
