Former UC forward Ryan Fletcher has been impressive in the Portsmouth Invitational draft camp in Virginia.
Fletcher led his Portsmouth Sports Club team with 22 points and 11 rebounds on the first day of competition Wednesday. On Thursday, he grabbed another 11 rebounds.
Former UC forward Jermaine Tate also participated at Portsmouth.
The Portsmouth tournament is the first of three draft camps for the benefit of NBA scouts. Several players will be invited to compete at the Nike Desert Classic in Phoenix later this month and the NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Chicago in June.
FIELD DAY: UC recruit Field Williams is expected to play today in the Pittsburgh Hoops Roundball Classic at Duquesne University.
The all-star game features U.S. players matched against the best from Pennsylvania. The U.S. team includes Michigan point guard recruit Avery Queen and future Oklahoma State power forward Ivan McFarlin.
Williams was named the Class 4A player of the year in Texas. He shot better than 60 percent from 3-point range as a senior at Waltrip High.
Antwan Jones, the Bearcats' future small forward from Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College, will play today in the Space Coast/adidas National Junior College All-Star Game in Cocoa, Fla.
RECRUITING NOTES: UC is expecting an official visit this weekend from 6-4 guard Immanuel McElroy of Tyler, Texas. He is viewed as a possible replacement for shooting guard DerMarr Johnson, who entered the NBA draft.
Jerome Harper, who signed at UC but had his scholarship offer rescinded following an assault charge which later was dropped is being recruited by Tallahassee Community College and Indian Hills (Iowa) C.C.
