The UC BEARCATS

Profiles of UC seniors

        • Ryan Fletcher, 6-foot-9 power forward, Franklin. The team's only fifth-year senior, Fletcher has been an important frontcourt reserve for the past three seasons.

“I think what stands out about Fletch is what he's done with himself physically,” coach Bob Huggins said. “He did such a great job with his body, and we needed help inside.”

        • Kenyon Martin, 6-9 center, Dallas. Martin ranks among the nation's leaders in scoring (34th), rebounding (12th) and blocks (ninth).

“He's a better person than he is a player,” Huggins said, “and I think everybody realizes how great a player he is. He's maybe the greatest listener I've ever coached.”

        • Pete Mickeal, 6-6 forward, Rock Island, Ill. In Mickeal's four years as a college player, he played for teams that lost a combined nine games.

“He doesn't take any days off,” Huggins said.

        • Jermaine Tate, 6-9 center, Toledo. Perhaps the most underappreciated UC player, Tate at his best provides the foundation for the Bearcats' defense.

Before the season, Tate had surgery on both of his knees. “It's remarkable he's been as productive as what he has,” Huggins said.
