Harper's accuser wants charges dropped
The Associated Press
COLUMBIA, S.C. The man who accused former Cincinnati recruit Jerome Harper of assault wants police to drop the charges, authorities said.
The head of the warrants division at Columbia Municipal Court told WIS-TV Wednesday that Saboor Rasheed asked the court to drop the charges.
Harper, 18, a 6-foot-5 guard at Keenan High School, signed a letter of intent in November to play for Cincin nati. On Tuesday, the No.2 Bearcats announced they had withdrawn their scholarship offer because of Harper's arrest.
According to police reports, Rasheed, 37, and Harper began arguing after Rasheed came into the home where Harper lived with his aunt. The two struggled, and Harper hit Rasheed in the eye while defending himself, the police report said.
The reporting officer said the assault was mutual.
