UC bows out of NCAA volleyball




        The University of Cincinnati volleyball team lost to Santa Clara 15-13, 15-12, 9-15, 15-5 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday in Palo Alto, Calif.

        Stephanie Meinig led UC with 22 kills and nine blocks, setting new career highs in each category. Bonita Wise had 19 kills.

        The Bearcats, winners of the C-USA regular-season and tournament titles, finish the season 28-7.

        It was Cincinnati's first NCAA appearance since 1981.
