UC volleyball team faces NCAA champ

The University of Cincinnati volleyball team, which qualified for their first NCAA Division I Tournament in 19 years — and second overall — will face defending national champion Long Beach State (23-3) and NCAA qualifier Colgate (17-14) at the Long Beach State Thanksgiving Tournament Friday and Saturday.

“This will be a great test heading into (the NCAA Tournament),” UC coach Laura Alford said. “We're going to see competition that we'll be seeing again in two week. The team understands we need to respond.”

UC (27-5) will find out its first-round opponent and site Sunday at 10 p.m.

Seniors Annie Gant and Katie Graham were named Academic All-District first- and second-team, respectively.
