UC's Road to the Title Game

        First round

        • George Mason, 19-10: The No.14 seed was the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season and postseason tournament champion. An upset? Last year's No.3 seeds won this game by an average of 14.5 points.

        Second round

        • Temple, 21-10: No.6 seed was the Atlantic 10 East regular-season champ. This matchup sound familiar? UC beat the Owls in the NCAA Tournament in 1994-95 and '95-96.

        Sweet 16

        • Miami, 15-3: No, not Wally's team, but the Floridians. No.2 seed finished second to Connecticut in the Big East. Miami has made a huge turnaround under former UK recruiter Leonard Hamilton. This is second straight NCAA after 37-year absence.

        Elite 8

        • Duke, 32-1: Uh, about that November game. The No.1 seed and ACC regular season and tournament champs, the Blue Devils look unbeatable. Since UC knocked them from No.1, they've won 27 straight games.

        Final 4

        • Michigan State, 28-4. The No.1-seed Spartans are Big Ten regular season and tournament champions. Put it this way — they pummeled a conference that put seven teams in the field. They're led by Mateen Cleaves, co-Big Ten player of the year, a point guard UC couldn't land.

        Championship game

        • No.1 Auburn (27-3) or No.1 Connecticut (28-2): OK, time to beat a third consecutive No.1 seed. Impossible? No. Arizona did just that two years ago.
