No effort, no trip for Myrick
BY MIKE DeCOURCY
The Cincinnati Enquirer
MILWAUKEE The UC Bearcats played Marquette Wednesday night without senior guard Shawn Myrick. That's not unusual, except this time he was not on the bench to watch.
Myrick was left at home by coach Bob Huggins for his failure to respond to Huggins' threats to practice harder or stay in Cincinnati for UC's eighth road game.
Huggins worked the Bearcats hard Monday and Tuesday following their 61-60 loss at DePaul, and he warned each of them they risked being left off the trip if they did not respond with a maximum effort. Myrick, who did not played in the loss to the Blue Demons, was the only one not included when UC left for Marquette.
Myrick did not play in four previous Bearcats games and had scored only two points in the three games prior to DePaul.
