The season isn't over for the Cincinnati and Xavier women's basketball teams.
Both teams have accepted post-season bids in the 16-team National Invitation Tournament and will play Friday.
Cincinnati (21-8) will travel to Mid-America Conference West champion Toledo (23-6) and Xavier (17-11) will play at Indiana (19-11).
Host teams are decided by attendance averages throughout the season. Both Toledo and Indiana had higher average attendances than the local teams. Times have not been set for the games.
Cincinnati will face the MAC Player of the Year in the Rockets' 5-foot-11 junior forward Kim Knuth. Knuth, a two-time MAC first-team pick, averages 21.7 ppg and 6.3 rpg.
Four of the Rockets starters average in double figures.
The Lady Bearcats just missed the NCAA tournament. Four Conference USA teams made the 64-team field. Cincinnati had the fifth-best record and RPI rating in the conference.
The Lady Hoosiers are a bit of a mystery for Xavier.
''I've seen them play on TV once,'' Xavier coach Melanie Balcomb said. ''I know they're a good team. I look forward to playing a Big Ten team. I think it will be good for our school and our program.''
Xavier, picked to finish last in the Atlantic 10 West, had a strong finish, winning three of its last four. ''I don't think we've peaked,'' Balcomb said.
